Dead State - The end of all things...
The Dead State series is one of my favorite that I have written to date. Not only is the story so compelling, but I love the premise of how I bring the world to its knees and kick off the zombie apocalypse.
For me, one big thing that separates most zombie stories is the origin of the virus.
More so, how did everyday people, like you and me, contract such a deadly virus, plague, whatever, that turns them into flesh-eating monsters?
I thought long and hard about this when I was writing the Dead State series in general. I wanted it to be a unique origin that hadn't been done to death. As far as I know, I do not think there are many, if any, books out there with a similar origin story.
As I did some research, I found that it is plausible, to a certain degree, that a deadly virus could be lurking within the permafrost in Siberia, and other locations that are around the world. Frozen in time from an era that has long been gone, these lethal diseases could essentially cause a massive worldwide outbreak if unfrozen.
Could these turn people into zombies? Who knows. But the fact that some really dangerous diseases are dormant in the ice is pretty scary stuff.
Ultimately, I loved this premise for a zombie story. It felt original to me. I hope you like the concept as well.
Here is one of the articles I found on the BBC website that goes over this theory. If you feel so inclined, take a look and read over what could be lurking beneath the ice.
The Dead State series is available on Amazon now.
